حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ رَاهَوَيْهِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ
مَاتَتْ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَظُنُّهُ سَمَّاهَا صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَأَتَيْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَسَجَدَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَتَسْجُدُ وَلَمَّا تَطْلُعِ الشَّمْسُ؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَا أُمَّ لَكَ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْآيَةَ فَاسْجُدُوا» وأيَّةُ آيَةٍ أَعْظَمُ منْ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَخْرُجْنَ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَظْهُرِنَا وَنَحْنُ أَحْيَاءٌ؟
Translation

✧ One of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ died. Ishaq said: I think he named her Safiyyah bt. Huyayy in Madinah. So I went to Ibn Abbas and informed him, and he prostrated. I said to him: 'Do you prostrate when the sun has not yet risen?' Ibn Abbas said: 'May you have no mother! Do you not know that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When you see a sign, prostrate"? And what sign is greater than the Mothers of the Believers departing from among us while we are still alive?'
