حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ هَانِئٍ الْمَقْدِسِيُّ ثنا هَانِئُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُعَلِّمُنَا الِاسْتِخَارَةَ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا السُّورَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخْيِرُكَ بِعِلْمِكِ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ اللهُمَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ عَلِيَّ مِنْ قَضَاءٍ فَاجْعَلْ عَاقِبَتَهُ إِلَى خَيْرٍ»

✧ From ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAbbas and ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to teach us the istikhārah (prayer for seeking guidance) just as he taught us a sūrah from the Qur’an: “O God, I seek Your guidance by Your knowledge, and I seek Your decree by Your power. You have power and I have none, and You know and I do not know. You are the Knower of the unseen. O God, whatever You have decreed for me, make its outcome good.”
