حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ثنا أَبِي ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مَسْرُوقِ بْنِ الْأَجْدَعِ عَنْ بِلَالٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَطْعِمْنَا يَا بِلَالُ تَمْرًا» فَقَبَضْتُ لَهُ قَبَضَاتٍ فَقَالَ «زِدْنَا يَا بِلَالُ» فَزِدْتُهُ ثَلَاثًا فَقُلْتُ لَمْ يَبْقَ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا شَيْءٌ ادَّخَرْتُهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَنْفِقْ يَا بِلَالُ وَلَا تَخْشَ مِنْ ذِي الْعَرْشِ إِقْلَالًا»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Feed us, O Bilal, some dates.” So I scooped handfuls for him. He said, “Give us more, O Bilal.” I added three more and said, “Nothing remains except a little I had stored for the Prophet ﷺ.” He said, “Spend, O Bilal, and do not fear poverty from the Owner of the Throne.”
