حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ حِينَ دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ قَالَ «إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ قَدْ زَعَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ قَدْ هَلَكْتُمْ هَزْلًا وَجُوعًا فَارْمُلُوا إِذَا دَخَلْتُمْ وَاسْتَلَمْتُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْوَاطٍ» فَفَعَلُوا فَقَالَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ مَا نَرَى الْقَوْمَ إِلَّا أَقْوِيَاءَ وَقَدْ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ هَلَكُوا هَزْلًا

✧ That when the Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah, he said: 'The people have claimed that you have perished from weakness and hunger, so perform ramal when you enter and when you touch [the corner] for three circuits.' So they did. The people of Makkah said, 'We do not see the people except as strong, yet you claimed that they had perished from weakness.'
