✧ From Qatada and 'Asim, that they heard 'Ikrima say: Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Umar b. al-Khattab summoned the companions of Muhammad ﷺ and asked them about Laylat al-Qadr, and they agreed that it is in the last ten nights. Ibn 'Abbas said: I said to 'Umar, 'Indeed I know, and I think, which night it is.' 'Umar said, 'And which night is it?' I said, 'The seventh that passes or the seventh that remains of the last ten.' 'Umar said, 'And from where did you know that?' Ibn 'Abbas said: I said, 'Allah created seven heavens and seven earths and seven days, and the month revolves in seven, and He created man from seven, and he eats from seven, and he prostrates on seven, and the circumambulation of the House is seven, and the stoning of the jamarat is seven—for things he mentioned.' 'Umar said, 'You have perceived a matter we did not perceive.' Qatada used to add on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying 'and he eats from seven': he said, 'It is the saying of Allah, exalted is He: {And We caused to grow therein grain, and grapes, and green fodder} [Quran 80:27-28], to the end of the verse.'
