حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَبُو يُوسُفَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ يَقُولُ صَحِبْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَابَ بَصَرُهُ وَبَعْدَمَا أُصِيبَ فَسُئِلَ عَنِ الْقَدَرِ فَقَالَ

«وَجَدْتُ أَصَوْبَ النَّاسِ فِيهِ حَدِيثًا أَجْهَلَهُمْ بِهِ وَأَضْعَفَهُمْ فِيهِ حَدِيثًا أَعْلَمَهُمْ بِهِ وَوَجَدْتُ النَّاظِرَ فِيهِ كَالنَّاظِرِ فِي شُعَاعِ الشَّمْسِ كُلَّمَا ازْدَادَ فِيهِ نَظَرًا ازْدَادَ بَصَرُهُ فِيهَا تَحَيُّرًا»

✧ “I found that the most correct of people concerning it in speech is the most ignorant of them of it, and the weakest of them concerning it in speech is the most knowledgeable of them of it. And I found the one who looks into it like one who looks into the rays of the sun: the more he increases his looking into it, the more his sight increases in bewilderment.”
