حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ وَشُعْبَةُ قَالَا ثنا جَامِعُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ أَهَلَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَسِرْنَا لَيْلًا فَنَزَلْنَا دَهْسًا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَنْ يَكْلَأُنَا؟» قَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا قَالَ «إِذًا تَنَامُ» قَالَ فَنَامُوا حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ وَمِنْهُمْ عُمَرُ وَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ اهْبِطُوا فَاسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «افْعَلُوا كَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَفْعَلُونَ» فَلَمَّا فَعَلُوا قَالَ «هَكَذَا لِمَنْ نَامَ مِنْكُمْ أَوْ نَسِيَ»

✧ I heard Abdullah b. Mas‘ud say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered ihram from al-Hudaybiyyah. We traveled at night and stopped in soft sandy ground. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Who will guard us?” Bilal said: “I will.” He said: “Then you will sleep.” He said: They slept until the sun rose, and so-and-so and so-and-so woke up, among them Umar, but the Prophet ﷺ did not wake. Someone said: “Dismount,” and the Prophet ﷺ woke up and said: “Do as you used to do.” When they did, he said: “Thus is it for anyone among you who sleeps or forgets.”
