✧ He sent to his brothers among the people of Kufa and ordered them to gather so that he could bid them farewell. They gathered in the portico of the mosque. He came to them, greeted them, and ordered them not to dispute about the Qur'an. He informed them that whoever rejects anything of it has rejected all of it. He told them that they used to dispute about it in the presence of the Messenger of God ﷺ and that they used to recite to him, and he would tell all of them that they were excellent. The Messenger of God ﷺ used to say: “Tongues do not differ over it, nor does it wear out from much repetition. That is because the law of Islam in it is one: its prescribed punishments and its obligations. If one of the two readings commanded something the other forbade, the obligations and prescribed punishments would differ in it.” And he mentioned a word: “If I knew that anyone had more knowledge than me of what was sent down upon Muhammad ﷺ, whom camels could reach, I would go to him until I joined his knowledge to my knowledge. I read seventy suras from the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the Qur'an was presented to him every year, and I would present it to him and he would tell me that I was excellent, until the year in which he was taken, when it was presented to him twice, then I recited to him. I will not abandon it out of aversion to it.”
