حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقُطَعِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا فَقَالَ
نَزَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ الْحَيَّةِ قُلْنَا يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمَا لَيْلَةُ الْحَيَّةِ؟ قَالَ أَنَا مَعَهُ إِذْ خَرَجَتْ عَلَيْنَا حَيَّةٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اطْلُبُوهَا» فَطَلَبْنَاهَا فَعَجَزَتْنَا حَتَّى دَخَلَتْ جُحْرَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «دَعُوهَا؛ فَقَدْ وَقَاهَا اللهُ شَرَّكُمْ وَوَقَاكُمْ شَرَّهَا»

✧ It was sent down upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the snake. We said: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what is the night of the snake? He said: I was with him when a snake came out upon us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Seek it." We sought it, but it eluded us until it entered its hole. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave it, for Allah has protected it from your evil and protected you from its evil."
