✧ People from Kufa came to him, and he greeted them with salam and enjoined them to fear Allah, and not to differ about the Quran or dispute over it, for it does not differ, nor does it fall away, nor does it change through much repetition. Do you not see that the law of Islam in it is one—its prescribed punishments, its recitation, and Allah's command in it? If one of the two readings commanded something and the other prohibited it, that would be difference, but it combines all of that. I hope that there has come to be among you of understanding and knowledge the best of what is among people. If I knew anyone whom camels could reach who knew better than I what Allah revealed to Muhammad ﷺ, I would seek him out until I added his knowledge to my knowledge. I know that the Quran used to be presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once every year, and it was presented to him twice in the year he passed away. Whenever I recited the Quran to him, he told me I was doing well. So whoever recites according to my recitation, let him not abandon it out of aversion to it; for whoever denies a single letter of it denies all of it.
