machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrated it from al-Sāʾib b. Yazīd and ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd Allāh, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbd, from ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ. Yūnus b. Yazīd and ʿUqayl b. Khālid narrated it from al-Zuhrī in that way. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Aʿraj and Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbd, from ʿUmar as his own statement, not raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ). Dāwūd b. al-Ḥuṣayn said likewise from al-Aʿraj, and Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr from Abū Salamah. Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf also narrated it from ʿUmar as his statement. It was also said from Yūnus that it is not raised (marfūʿ); Aḥmad b. Shabīb said this from his father, from Yūnus. It was also said from Yūnus, from al-Zuhrī, as his statement; Muḥammad b. Muṣʿab said this from al-Awzāʿī, from Yūnus. The more likely correct view is that it is stopped at the Companion (mawqūf), and God knows best. Muslim recorded it from Qutaybah, from Abū Ṣafwān, from Yūnus, raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ).
