✧ When he dispatched a military expedition, he would say: Raid in the name of Allah and in the path of Allah; fight those who disbelieve in Allah. Do not embezzle, do not act treacherously, do not be cowardly, and do not kill a child, a woman, or an old man. When you besiege the people of a town or fortress, do not grant them the protection of Allah and the protection of His Messenger, but grant them your own protection and the protection of your fathers; for if you violate your own protection or that of your fathers, that is better for you than violating the protection of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and the protection of His Messenger ﷺ.
