✧ Umar b. al-Khattab began to narrate to us about the people of Badr and said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to show us the places where the people of Badr would fall the day before Badr, saying, 'This is the place where so-and-so will fall tomorrow, and this is the place where so-and-so will fall tomorrow, if Allah wills.'" Umar said: "By the One who sent him with the truth, they did not miss the boundaries that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had set!" They were placed in a well, some on top of others. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went until he reached them and said, "O so-and-so son of so-and-so, and O so-and-so son of so-and-so, have you found what Allah and His Messenger promised you to be true? Indeed I have found what Allah promised me to be true." Umar said: "O Messenger of Allah, how do you speak to bodies that have no souls?" He said: "You are not more able to hear what I say than they are, except that they cannot reply anything."
