✧ My maternal uncle, Jadd b. Qays, carried me among the seventy riders who came to the Messenger of God ﷺ on the night of al-'Aqabah from among the Ansar. The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and with him was his uncle al-'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib. He said: 'O uncle, take the pledge from your maternal uncles!' The seventy said to him: 'O Muhammad, ask for your Lord and for yourself whatever you wish!' He said: 'As for what I ask of you for my Lord, that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him. As for what I ask of you for myself, that you protect me from what you protect yourselves from.' They said: 'What will we have if we do that?' He said: 'Paradise.'
