حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ، نَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيِّ، قَالَ:
جِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الْعِلْمِ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِطَالِبِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ حُبِّهَا لِمَا جَاءَ يَطْلُبُ، وَعَنْ أَيِّ الْعِلْمِ تَسْأَلُ ؟ " قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ، وَثَلَاثٌ لِلْمُسَافِرِ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ وَالْبَوْلِ، ثُمَّ تُحْدِثُ وُضُوءًا

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ask him about wiping over the khuffs. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have come to ask you about knowledge.' He said: 'The angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge out of love for what he seeks. And about which knowledge do you ask?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, about wiping over the khuffs.' He said: 'Yes. For the resident, one day and one night; and for the traveler, three days, from defecation or urination. Then renew your wudu.'
