حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ الْحَارِثِيُّ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مِكْتَفِ بْنِ مُحَيِّصَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ، وَخَرَجَ مَعَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِالْحَرَّةِ نَهَشَتْ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ سَهْلٍ حَيَّةٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: ادْعُوا لِي عَمْرَو بْنَ حَزْمٍ، فَدُعِيَ، فَعَرَضَ رُقْيَتَهُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: " لَا بَأْسَ بِهَا، ارْقِهِ "، قَالَ: فَوَضَعَ ابْنُ حَزْمٍ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هُوَ يَمُوتُ. أَوْ: قَدْ مَاتَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " ارْقِهِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ قَدْ يَمُوتُ " - أَوْ: " قَدْ مَاتَ " -، فَرَقَاهُ، فَصَحَّ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَانْطَلَقَ ".

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out, and 'Abd al-Rahman b. Sahl went with him. When they were at al-Harra, a snake bit 'Abd al-Rahman b. Sahl. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Summon 'Amr b. Hazm for me.' He was summoned, and he presented his ruqya to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'There is no harm in it; recite it over him.' He said: 'Ibn Hazm placed his hand on him and said: O Messenger of Allah, he is dying—or: he has died.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Recite it over him, even if he is dying—or has died.' So he recited it over him, and 'Abd al-Rahman recovered and went on his way.
