حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ الْحَارِثِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ. عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ أَبَاهُ أَبَا حَثْمَةَ خَارِصًا، فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا حَثْمَةَ قَدْ زَادَ عَلَيَّ، فَدَعَا أَبَا حَثْمَةَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ ابْنَ عَمِّكَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ زِدْتَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ تَرَكْتُ عَرِيَّةَ أَهْلِهِ، وَمَا يُطْعِمُ الْمَسَاكِينَ، وَمَا يُصِيبُهُ الرِّيحُ. فَقَالَ: " قَدْ زَادَكَ ابْنُ عَمِّكَ وَأَنْصَفَ ".

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent my father, Abu Hathamah, as a date-estimator. A man came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Hathamah has overestimated against me.' He summoned Abu Hathamah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Your cousin claims that you have overestimated against him.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I left out the 'ariyya for his family, what is given to the poor, and what the wind affects.' He said: 'Your cousin has increased your due and been fair.'
