حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَارَةَ بْنَ غَزِيَّةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ:
يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِأَحَدِنَا النَّجِيبَةُ الْفَارِهَةُ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا "، قَالَ: فَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِأَحَدِنَا الْحُلَّةُ الْحَسَنَةُ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا "، قَالَ: فَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِأَحَدِنَا النَّعْلَانِ الْحَسَنَتَانِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا "، قَالَ: فَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ أَنْ أَتَّخِذَ طَعَامًا فَأَدْعُوَ قَوْمِي فَيَمْشُونَ خَلْفِي وَيَأْكُلُونَ عِنْدِي ؟ قَالَ: " لَا "، قَالَ: فَمَا الْكِبْرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: " أَنْ تُسَفِّهَ الْحَقَّ وَتَغْمِصَ النَّاسَ

✧ O Messenger of God, is it from pride that one of us has a fine, swift she-camel? He said: No. He said: Is it from pride that one of us has a beautiful garment? He said: No. He said: Is it from pride that one of us has a good pair of sandals? He said: No. He said: Is it from pride that I prepare food and invite my people, and they walk behind me and eat with me? He said: No. He said: Then what is pride, O Messenger of God? He said: That you belittle the truth and disparage people.
