✧ Miqdam b. Dawud b. Isa al-Misri

حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ، ثَنَا خَالِدٌ، ثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ. عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ:

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَشَدُّ بَلَاءً ؟ فَقَالَ: " النَّبِيُّونَ، قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيٌّ ؟ قَالَ: " ثُمَّ الصَّالِحُونَ، إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُهُمْ لَيُبْتَلَى بِالْفَقْرِ حَتَّى مَا يَجِدُ إِلَّا التَّمْرَةَ أَوْ نَحْوَهَا، وَإِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُهُمْ لَيُبْتَلَى فَيَقْمَلُ حَتَّى يَنْبِذَ الْقَمْلَ، وَكَانَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِالْبَلَاءِ أَشَدَّ فَرَحًا مِنْهُ بِالرَّخَاءِ

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, which people are most severely tried? He said: "The prophets." I said: Then who? He said: "Then the righteous. One of them would be tested with poverty until he found nothing but a date or something like it. One of them would be tested with lice until he threw off the lice. And one of them would be more joyful at trial than at ease."
