✧ A man from Banu Tamim came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a man of great wealth, with family and a settled home. Tell me how I should spend and what I should do.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Pay the Zakat from your wealth, for it is a purification that purifies you, maintain ties with your relatives, and acknowledge the right of the beggar, the neighbor, and the poor.' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, make it less for me.' He said, 'Then give the relative his due, and the poor, and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully.' He said, 'That is enough for me, O Messenger of Allah. If I pay the Zakat to your messenger, will I be absolved of it before Allah and His Messenger?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Yes, if you pay the Zakat to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, you are absolved of it, and you have its reward, and its sin is upon the one who changes it.'
