حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ: نَا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَمِعَهُ وَهُوَ فِي رَكْبٍ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: وَأَبِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ اللهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ، مَنْ كَانَ حَالِفًا فَلْيَحْلِفْ بِاللهِ، أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ heard him while he was in a riding party saying, 'By my father!' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah forbids you to swear by your fathers. Whoever swears, let him swear by Allah or be silent.'
