حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، نَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي الْوَسِيمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ مُرِّيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَسَأَلَهُ، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْهِ عِمَامَتَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ: لَوْ أَعْطَيْتَهُ دِرْهَمًا لَأَجْزَأَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ مِنَ الْبِرِّ أَنْ يَصِلَ الرَّجُلُ وُدَّ أَبِيهِ، وَإِنَّ هَذَا كَانَ وُدَّ عُمَرَ
Translation

✧ A man came to Ibn 'Umar and asked him, so he threw his turban to him. Some of the people said: 'If you had given him a dirham it would have sufficed.' Ibn 'Umar said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: 'It is part of righteousness for a man to maintain the ties of friendship of his father,' and this was a friend of 'Umar.
