حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُلَاثَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَالَ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ بَعَثَنِي إِلَى ثَقِيفَ: تَجَوَّزْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ يَا عُثْمَانُ، وَأُمَّ النَّاسَ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ، وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ، وَالْحَامِلَ، وَالْمُرْضِعَ، وَإِنِّي لَأَسْمَعُ بُكَاءَ الصَّبِيِّ فَأَتَجَوَّزُ "

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said when he sent me to Thaqif: "Keep the prayer short, O 'Uthman, and lead the people in prayer according to the weakest of them, for among them are the weak, the one with a need, the pregnant, and the nursing. Indeed, I hear the crying of a child and I shorten it."
