✧ Nabhan apostatized three times, so the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “O God, grant me power over Nabhan with a black rope around his neck.” I turned and there was Nabhan, seized, and they had put a black rope around his neck. They brought him to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Messenger of God ﷺ took the sword in his right hand and the rope in his left to kill him. A man from the Ansar said: “O Messenger of God, would that you step aside from him.” He said: So he handed the sword to a man and said: “Go and strike his neck.” He said: So he went off with him, but Nabhan laughed and said: “Will they kill a man who bears witness that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God?” So he let him go.
