حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، نَا أَبِي، نَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ النَّمَرِيُّ، ثَنَا سَلَّامٌ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَتَبَ إِلَى عُمَّالِهِ فِي سُنَّةِ الصَّدَقَاتِ: " فِي أَرْبَعِينَ شَاةً شَاةٌ إِلَى عِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةٍ، فَإِنْ زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَفِيهَا شَاتَانِ إِلَى مِائَتَيْنِ، فَإِذَا زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَفِيهَا ثَلَاثُ شِيَاهٍ إِلَى ثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ، فَإِذَا كَثُرَتِ الْغَنَمُ فَفِي كُلِّ مِائَةِ شَاةٍ شَاةٌ. وَكَتَبَ فِي صَدَقَةِ الْبَقَرِ: " فِي كُلِّ ثَلَاثِينَ بَقَرَةً جَذَعَةٌ، وَفِي أَرْبَعِينَ بَقَرَةً مُسِنَّةٌ وَكَتَبَ فِي صَدَقَاتِ الْإِبِلِ: " فِي خَمْسٍ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ شَاةٌ، وَفِي عَشْرٍ شَاتَانِ، وَفِي خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ ثَلَاثٌ، وَفِي عِشْرِينَ أَرْبَعٌ، وَفِي خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ بِنْتُ مَخَاضٍ إِلَى خَمْسٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ، فَإِذَا زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَفِيهَا بِنْتُ لَبُونٍ إِلَى خَمْسٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ، فَإِذَا زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَفِيهَا حِقَّةٌ طَرُوقَةُ الْفَحْلِ إِلَى سِتِّينَ، فَإِنْ زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَفِيهَا جَذَعَةٌ إِلَى خَمْسٍ وَسَبْعِينَ، فَإِنْ زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَفِيهَا بِنْتَا لَبُونٍ إِلَى تِسْعِينَ، فَإِنْ زَادَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَحِقَّتَانِ إِلَى عِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةٍ، فَإِنْ كَثُرَتِ الْإِبِلُ فَفِي كُلِّ خَمْسِينَ حِقَّةٌ، وَفِي كُلِّ أَرْبَعِينَ بِنْتُ لَبُونٍ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ wrote to his governors about the regulations of the alms tax: 'For forty sheep, one sheep, up to one hundred and twenty. If they increase by one, then two sheep, up to two hundred. If they increase by one more, then three sheep, up to three hundred. If the sheep become numerous, then for every hundred sheep, one sheep.' And he wrote regarding the alms tax on cattle: 'For every thirty cattle, a one-year-old; and for forty cattle, a two-year-old.' And he wrote regarding the alms tax on camels: 'For five camels, one sheep; for ten, two sheep; for fifteen, three sheep; for twenty, four sheep; for twenty-five, a bint makhad, up to thirty-five. If they increase by one, then a bint labun, up to forty-five. If they increase by one more, then a hiqqah that is ready to be mounted by a stallion, up to sixty. If they increase by one more, then a jadha'ah, up to seventy-five. If they increase by one more, then two bint labuns, up to ninety. If they increase by one more, then two hiqqahs, up to one hundred and twenty. If the camels become numerous, then for every fifty camels, a hiqqah; and for every forty camels, a bint labun.'
