✧ When Adam descended to the earth, he wept over Paradise for a hundred autumns. Then he looked at the expanse of the earth and said: "O Lord, is there no dweller to inhabit Your earth besides me?" Then Allah revealed to him: "Indeed, yes. Houses will be raised in which My name is mentioned, and I will settle you in one of them, a house which I single out for My honour, which I permit My grandeur, and which I name My House. I will speak of it by My grandeur, though I will not dwell in it, for it is not fitting for Me to dwell in houses, nor do they contain Me. Rather, I am on My Throne and the seat of My grandeur, and it is not fitting for anything I have created to escape My grasp or My power. You will maintain it, O Adam, as long as you live, then the generations after you will maintain it, nation after nation, century after century, until it reaches a son of your descendants called Ibrahim, whom I shall make one of its maintainers and inhabitants."
