حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابَانَ، نَا زُنَيْجٌ أَبُو غَسَّانَ، نَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:

دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَأَى النَّاسَ قَلِيلًا، فَقَالَ: لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا نَادَى النَّاسَ إِلَى عَرْقٍ وَمِرْمَاةٍ - يَعْنِي بِالْمِرْمَاةِ: رَغِيفًا - لَأَجَابُوهُ، وَهُمْ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ فِتْيَانًا فَيَجْمَعُونَ حُزَمًا مِنْ حَطَبٍ، ثُمَّ أُحَرِّقُ عَلَى نَاسٍ بُيُوتَهُمْ، يَسْمَعُونَ الْمُنَادِي لَا يُجِيبُونَهُ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered the mosque and saw few people. He said: If a man were to call the people to a bone with meat on it and a flat loaf of bread—meaning by a flat loaf—they would answer him, yet they stay behind from this prayer. By the One in whose hand is my soul, I was about to order young men to gather bundles of firewood, then burn the houses of people who hear the caller and do not answer him.
