✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent a delegation to Yemen and appointed over them a commander from among them, though he was the youngest of them. He stayed for some days without setting out. The Prophet ﷺ met one of them and said, 'O so-and-so, what is the matter with you? Have you not departed?' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, our commander is complaining of pain in his leg.' The Prophet ﷺ came to him and blew over him: 'In the name of Allah and by Allah, I seek refuge in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what is in it,' seven times, and the man recovered. An old man said to him, 'O Messenger of Allah, will you put him in command over us when he is the youngest of us?' The Prophet ﷺ then mentioned his recitation of the Qur'an. The old man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, were it not that I fear I would take it as a pillow and not rise with it, I would learn it.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'Learn it, for the likeness of the Qur'an is like a leather bag you have filled with musk and then tied its opening. If you open it, the fragrance of musk spreads; and if you leave it, it remains musk set aside. Similarly is the likeness of the Qur'an when you recite it or when it is in your heart.'
