حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَكْرٍ، ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنْ نُصَيْرِ بْنِ أَبِي نُصَيْرٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ:
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ وَعِنْدَهُ وِسَادَتَانِ، فَقَالَ: يَا جَارِيَةُ، هَاتِي وِسَادَةً، قُلْتُ: هَذِهِ وِسَادَةٌ، قَالَ: لَا، إِنَّ هَذِهِ قَامَ عَنْهَا آنِفًا جِبْرِيلُ، وَهَذِهِ قَامَ عَنْهَا مِيكَائِيلُ، فَوَاللهِ مَا مَنَعَنِي أَنْ أَضْرِبَهُ بِسَيْفِي إِلَّا حَدِيثٌ حَدَّثَنِيهِ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَمِقِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " مَنْ آمَنَ رَجُلًا عَلَى دَمِهِ فَقَتَلَهُ، فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ الْمَقْتُولُ كَافِرًا

✧ I entered upon al-Mukhtār b. Abī ʿUbayd while he had two cushions. He said: “O slave girl, bring a cushion.” I said: “This is a cushion.” He said: “No, this is one from which Jibrīl has just risen, and this one from which Mīkāʾīl has just risen. By Allah, nothing prevented me from striking him with my sword except a ḥadīth that ʿAmr b. al-Ḥamiq narrated to me. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever gives a man security for his blood and then kills him, he will be in the Fire, even if the slain man was a disbeliever.’”
