حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ الْيَافُونِيُّ، ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ مُرَشَّلٍ، ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:

قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالْيَهُودُ تَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ، فَسَأَلَهُمْ، فَقَالُوا: هَذَا يَوْمٌ ظَهَرَ فِيهِ مُوسَى عَلَى فِرْعَوْنَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَنْتُمْ أَوْلَى بِمُوسَى، فَصُومُوهُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came to Madinah while the Jews were fasting on ‘Ashura’. He asked them, and they said: This is a day on which Moses ﷺ prevailed over Pharaoh. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: You have more right to Moses, so fast it.
