وَبِهِ: عَنْ مَطَرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَابَاهْ قَالَ:

بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَطُوفُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، بِالْبَيْتِ، إِذْ عَارَضَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، مَا سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فِي النَّجْوَى ؟ قَالَ: إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ دَعَا اللهُ بِعَبْدِهِ، فَيَضَعُ كَنَفَهُ عَلَيْهِ، يَقُولُ لَهُ: أَلَمْ تَعْمَلْ يَوْمَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ذَنْبَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ الْعَبْدُ: بَلَى يَا رَبِّ. فَيَقُولُ: فَإِنِّي سَتَرْتُهُ عَلَيْكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَأَغْفِرُهُ لَكَ الْيَوْمَ

Translation

✧ While I was circumambulating the House with Abdullah b. Umar, a man intercepted him and said: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say about the confidential talk? He said: When the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah will call His servant and place His covering over him, saying to him: 'Did you not do on such-and-such day such-and-such sin?' The servant will say: 'Yes, O Lord.' Then He will say: 'Indeed, I concealed it for you in the world, and I forgive it for you today.'
