✧ Regarding His saying: 'Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory' (48:1), it was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon his return from al-Hudaybiyyah, while his companions were mixed with grief and despondency. They had been prevented from their rites, and they had sacrificed the sacrificial animals at al-Hudaybiyyah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A verse has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the entire world.' He recited it to them to the end of the verse. A man from the people said: 'Congratulations and blessings to you, O Messenger of Allah, from Allah. You have what He does for you, but what does He do for us?' So Allah revealed on that day: 'That He may admit the believing men and believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow' (48:5) to the end of the verse.
