Chain of narrators
  1. Ibn ʿAbbās

✧ One day the Messenger of God ﷺ was with Gabriel ﷺ on al-Safa. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him, “O Gabriel, by the One who sent you with the truth, the family of Muhammad has no husk of flour or handful of barley meal left for the evening.” No sooner had he spoken than he heard a thunderous sound from heaven that startled him. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Has God commanded the Hour to come?” He said, “No, but God commanded Israfil, and he came down to you when he heard your words.” Israfil came to him and said, “God has heard what you mentioned, and He has sent me to you with the keys of the treasures of the earth. He commanded me to present them to you: if you wish, I will make the mountains of Tihamah move with you as emeralds, rubies, gold, and silver, and I will do it. If you wish, you may be a prophet-king, and if you wish, a prophet-servant.” Gabriel gestured to him to be humble. He said, “Rather, a prophet-servant,” three times.
