Chain of narrators
  1. Ibn ʿAbbās

✧ When Fatimah, the mother of Ali b. Abi Talib, died, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took off his shirt and clothed her with it, and lay down with her in her grave. When the earth was leveled over her, some of them said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we saw you do something you have not done for anyone else.' He said: 'I clothed her with my shirt so that she may wear from the garments of Paradise, and I lay down with her in her grave so that the squeezing of the grave may be lightened for her. She was the best of Allah's creation to me in kindness after Abu Talib.'
