حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، نَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، نَا بَشَّارُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ حَكِيمٍ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ إِسْحَاقَ، تَقُولُ:
هَاجَرْتُ مَعَ أَخِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَلَمَّا كُنْتُ فِي بَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ، قَالَ لِي أَخِي: اقْعُدِي يَا أُمَّ إِسْحَاقَ، فَإِنِّي نَسِيتُ نَفَقَتِي بِمَكَّةَ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكَ الْفَاسِقَ زَوْجِي قَالَ: لَا، إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ. قَالَ: فَلَبِثْتُ أَيَّامًا، فَمَرَّ بِي رَجُلٌ قَدْ عَرَفْتُهُ وَلَا أُسَمِّيهِ، فَقَالَ: مَا يُقْعِدُكِ هَاهُنَا يَا أُمَّ إِسْحَاقَ ؟ قُلْتُ: أَنْتَظِرُ إِسْحَاقَ، ذَهَبَ لِنَفَقَةٍ لَهُ بِمَكَّةَ، فَقَالَ: لَا إِسْحَاقَ لَكِ، قَدْ لَحِقَهُ زَوْجُكِ الْفَاسِقُ فَقَتَلَهُ، فَقَدِمْتُ، " فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قُتِلَ إِسْحَاقُ. وَأَنَا أَبْكِي، وَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيَّ، فَإِذَا نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ نَكَسَ فِي الْوُضُوءِ، فَأَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ مَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ فِي وَجْهِي

✧ I migrated with my brother to the Messenger of God ﷺ in Madinah. When I was partway along the road, my brother said to me: 'Sit down, O Umm Ishaq, for I have forgotten my provisions in Makkah.' I said: 'I fear for you from the wicked man, my husband.' He said: 'No, God willing.' She said: 'I waited for some days, and a man I knew—whom I will not name—passed by me and said: 'What makes you sit here, O Umm Ishaq?' I said: 'I am waiting for Ishaq; he went for provisions of his in Makkah.' He said: 'You have no Ishaq; your wicked husband caught up with him and killed him.' So I came, and I entered upon the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was performing ablution. I said: 'O Messenger of God, Ishaq has been killed,' and I was crying, and he looked at me. When I looked at him, he lowered [his gaze] during the ablution, then he took a handful of water and sprinkled it in my face.
