حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، نَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، نَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ، أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ
أَنَّ أَبَا جَنْدَلِ بْنَ سُهَيْلٍ وَالْحَارِثَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ مَرَّا عَلَى بِلَالٍ، مُؤَذِّنِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ عَلَى مِيضَأَةِ مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ، فَسَأَلَاهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ

✧ Abu Jandal b. Suhayl and al-Harith b. Mu'awiyah passed by Bilal, the muezzin of the Messenger of God ﷺ, while he was performing ablution at the ablution place of the mosque of Damascus. They asked him about wiping over the leather socks, and he said: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to wipe over the leather socks and the head covering.
