حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، نَا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْأَزْرَقُ، نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
رَأَيْتُ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ: الصَّدَقَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا، وَالْقَرْضُ بِثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ، قُلْتُ: يَا جِبْرِيلُ، مَا بَالُ الْقَرْضِ أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ السَّائِلَ يَسْأَلُ وَعِنْدَهُ، وَالْمُسْتَقْرِضُ لَا يَسْتَقْرِضُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَاجَةٍ

✧ On the night I was taken on the Night Journey, I saw written on the gate of Paradise: 'Charity is rewarded tenfold, and a loan eighteenfold.' I said, 'O Jibril, why is a loan better than charity?' He said, 'Because a beggar asks while he has something, but one who seeks a loan does so only out of need.'
