حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ زَبْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللهِ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ مِشْكَمٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيَّ، يَقُولُ:

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَخْبِرْنِي بِمَا يَحِلُّ لِي وَمَا يَحْرُمُ عَلَيَّ، فَصَعَّدَ فِيَّ النَّظَرَ وَصَوَّبَ، فَقَالَ: " نُوَيْبِتَةٌ ". قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، نُوَيْبِتَةُ خَيْرٍ أَوْ نُوَيْبِتَةُ شَرٍّ ؟ قَالَ: بَلْ نُوَيْبِتَةُ خَيْرٍ، لَا تَأْكُلْ لَحْمَ الْحِمَارِ الْأَهْلِيِّ، وَلَا ذَا نَابٍ مِنَ السَّبُعِ

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me what is lawful for me and what is forbidden to me. He looked up at me and then looked down, and said: 'A little prophet.' I said: O Messenger of Allah, a little prophet of good or a little prophet of evil? He said: Rather a little prophet of good. Do not eat the meat of domesticated donkeys, nor any fanged beast of prey.
