حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ، ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أَبُو سُلَيْمَانَ الْمَدَنِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْغَزْوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: عَلَيْكَ بِالشَّامِ، ثُمَّ الْزَمْ مِنَ الشَّامِ عَسْقَلَانَ؛ فَإِنَّهَا إِذَا دَارَتِ الرَّحَى فِي أُمَّتِي كَانَ أَهْلُهَا فِي رَخَاءٍ وَعَافِيَةٍ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, I want to go on a military expedition in the path of God. He said: 'You should go to Syria, and then adhere to Ascalon of Syria; for when the mill turns among my community, its people will be in ease and well-being.'
