حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ كُسَا الْوَاسِطِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ الْبَحْرَانِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، قَالَ: نَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْأَشْرَسِ، عَنْ أَبِي ظِبْيَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ قَوْلَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: كَمَا أَنْـزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ، مَنِ الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ ؟ قَالَ: " الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى. قَالَ: الَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْآنَ عِضِينَ مَا عِضِينَ ؟ قَالَ: " آمَنُوا بِبَعْضٍ وَكَفَرُوا بِبَعْضٍ

✧ A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'What do you think of the words of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: "As We sent down upon the muqtasimīn"—who are the muqtasimīn?' He said: 'The Jews and the Christians.' He said: 'Those who made the Qur'an into ʿiḍīn—what are ʿiḍīn?' He said: 'They believed in some of it and disbelieved in some of it.'
