✧ I said to ʿAʾisha: 'O maternal aunt, I have been reflecting on your situation, and I am amazed by some things and not amazed by others. I found you to be among the most knowledgeable of people in fiqh.' I said: 'What prevents her? She is the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the daughter of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq.' I found you knowledgeable of the genealogies of the Arabs and their battle-days. I said: 'What prevents her? Her father was the most learned of Quraysh.' But I am only amazed that I found you knowledgeable of medicine—so from where?' She said: 'O ʿUrayya, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had many illnesses, and we used to treat him.'
