✧ O my son, keep my secret, and you will be a believer, for I have never told anyone his secret. Indeed, my mother and the wives of the Prophet ﷺ asked me, but I did not tell them his secret, and I will never tell his secret to anyone. Then he said: O my son, perform ablution thoroughly, and your lifespan will be increased, and your two guardian angels will love you. Then he said: O my son, if you are able not to sleep except upon ablution, then do so, for whoever death comes upon while he is upon ablution will be given martyrdom. Then he said: O my son, if you are able to never cease praying, then do so, for the angels never cease to send blessings upon you as long as you pray. Then he said: O my son, beware of turning around during prayer, for turning around during prayer is ruin. If it is absolutely necessary, then in the voluntary prayer, not the obligatory. Then he said to me: O my son, when you bow, place your palms on your knees, spread your fingers, and raise your hands away from your sides. When you raise your head from bowing, let every limb settle in its proper position, for Allah will not look on the Day of Resurrection at one who does not straighten his back. Then he said to me: O my son, when you prostrate, do not peck like a rooster pecks, do not sit like a dog sits, and do not spread your forearms on the ground like a wild beast. Spread the tops of your feet on the ground, put your buttocks on your heels, for that will be easier for you on the Day of Resurrection in your reckoning. Then he said to me: O my son, be thorough in the ghusl from major ritual impurity, and you will emerge from your place of washing with no sin or error upon you. I said: May my father and mother be your ransom, what is thoroughness in ghusl? He said: Wet the roots of the hair and cleanse the skin. Then he said to me: O my son, if you are able to make some of your prayer in your house, then do so, for it will increase the good of your house. Then he said to me: O my son, when you enter upon your family, give the greeting of peace; it will be a blessing upon you and your household. Then he said to me: O my son, when you leave your family, let your gaze not fall upon anyone of the people of the qiblah except that you greet him, and you will return having increased your good deeds. Then he said: O my son, if you are able to pass the evening and the morning with no deceit in your heart toward anyone, then do so. Then he said to me: O Anas, when you leave your family, let your gaze not fall upon anyone of the people of the qiblah except that you think he has excellence over you, then do so. Then he said to me: O my son, that is from my Sunnah. Whoever revives my Sunnah has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise. Then he said to me: O my son, if you preserve my bequest, then nothing will be more beloved to you than death. No one narrated this hadith in its complete form from Sa'id b. al-Musayyib except 'Ali b. Zayd, and no one from 'Ali b. Zayd except 'Abd Allah b. al-Muthanna. Muslim b.
