حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ وَمُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَا: ثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْمَاجِشُونُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ رُمَيْثَةَ، قَالَتْ:

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ - وَلَوْ أَشَاءُ أَنْ أُقَبِّلَ مَوْضِعَ الْخَاتَمِ مِنْهُ لِقُرْبِي لَفَعَلْتُ - وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: اهْتَزَّ لَهُ عَرْشُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَوْمَ مَاتَ. يُرِيدُ بِذَلِكَ: سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ.

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—and if I wished I could have kissed the place of the seal from him because of my closeness, I would have done so—saying: 'The Throne of the Most Merciful shook on the day he died,' meaning thereby Saʿd b. Muʿādh.
