حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سُحَيْمٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، قَالَ:
كَتَبْتُ إِلَى نَافِعٍ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الدُّعَاءِ قَبْلَ الْقِتَالِ، فَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَغَارَ عَلَى بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ، فَقَتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتَهُمْ، وَسَبَى ذَرَارِيَّهُمْ

✧ I wrote to Nāfiʿ asking him about supplication before fighting. He wrote to me: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided Banū al-Muṣṭaliq, killing their fighting men and taking their offspring captive.
