حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْأَغَرُّ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، عَنْ خَلِيفَةَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَصْرٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:

تَرَدَّدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي آيَةٍ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ بِوَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: أَشَهِدَ الصَّلَاةَ مَعَكُمْ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ ؟ قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: فَرَأَى الْقَوْمُ أَنَّهُ إِنَّمَا تَفَقَّدَهُ لِيَفْتَحَ عَلَيْهِ.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ hesitated in a verse during the dawn prayer. When he finished the prayer, he turned his face to the people and said, 'Did Ubayy b. Kaʿb attend the prayer with you?' They said, 'No.' So the people realized that he had looked for him only so that he could prompt him.
