✧ Abū Bakr had a seat near the Prophet ﷺ from which he would not move except for al-ʿAbbās, and the Messenger of God ﷺ was pleased by that. One day al-ʿAbbās approached, and Abū Bakr moved aside for him. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: “What is the matter with you?” He said: “O Messenger of God, your uncle has arrived.” The Messenger of God ﷺ looked at him, then turned to Abū Bakr smiling and said: “This is al-ʿAbbās, who has come wearing white garments, and his descendants after him will wear black, and twelve men from among them will rule.” When al-ʿAbbās came, he said: “O Messenger of God, what did you say to Abū Bakr?” He said: “I said nothing but good.” He said: “You have spoken truly, by my father and mother, you say nothing but good.” He said: “I said: My uncle has come wearing white garments, and his descendants after him will wear black, and twelve men from among them will rule.”
