حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الطَّاحِيُّ قَالَ: نَا ثُمَامَةُ. عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:

بَعَثَتْنِي أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَقَدْ عَمِلَتْ لَهُ وَطْبَةً - فَطَلَبْتُهُ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ فِي بَيْتِ عَبْدٍ لَهُ خَيَّاطٍ، وَقَدْ عَمِلَ لَهُ طَعَامًا فِيهِ ذَرْوَةٌ وَقَرْعٌ، فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ الْقَرْعَ، وَيُنَحِّي الذَّرْوَةَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ. فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ صَنَعَتْ لَكَ وَطْبَةً، وَهِيَ تُحِبُّ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ مِنْهَا، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا. فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَنَسٌ ادْعُ اللهَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ أَطِلْ عُمُرَهُ، وَأَكْثِرْ مَالَهُ وَوَلَدَهُ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُ

Translation

✧ Umm Sulaym sent me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and she had made for him a dish of dates and butter. I looked for him and found him in the house of a servant of his who was a tailor, and he had made for him food containing small grains and gourd. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began eating the gourd and pushing aside the small grains with his forefinger. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaym has made for you a dish of dates and butter, and she would like you to eat from it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and ate from it. She said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, Anas—supplicate to Allah for him." He said, "O Allah, lengthen his life, increase his wealth and children, and forgive him."
