✧ The most intense regrets of the children of Adam are over three things: a man who had with him a beautiful wife who pleased him, and she bore him a son and then died, and he had nothing with which to hire a wet-nurse for him; a man who was on a horse in a military expedition and saw the spoils, so he raced his companions to them, but when he drew near them, his horse fell and died, so he was beaten to the spoils; and a man who had crops and a watering camel, but when his crops ripened and pleased him, his watering camel died, and he had nothing with which to buy a camel, so his crops perished.
