✧ A Jew had a debt of four dirhams against me, and he pressed me for it while the Messenger of God ﷺ was about to set out for Khaybar. I asked him to wait until I returned, saying: Perhaps we may gain some spoils. He then brought me before the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said: Give him his due—twice. I said: O Messenger of God, you intend to set out for Khaybar, and perhaps God will grant us spoils there. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: Give him his due. When the Prophet ﷺ said something three times, he was not to be contradicted. He said: I was wearing a waist-wrapper and had a headband on my head. When I went out, I said: Buy this waist-wrapper from me, and he bought it for the dirhams he was owed. I then wrapped myself in the headband that was on my head. A woman passed by wearing a cloak, and she clothed me with it.
