حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ قَالَ: نَا مَالِكُ بْنُ سُعَيْرٍ قَالَ: نَا فُرَاتُ بْنُ أَحْنَفَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ
أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَامَ خَطِيبًا فِي الرَّحَبَةِ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ، وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِكُوزٍ مِنْ مَاءِ زَمْزَمَ، فَمَضْمَضَ مِنْهُ وَمَسَحَ وَشَرِبَ فَضْلَ وَضُوئِهِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ مِنْكُمْ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ، وَهَذَا وُضُوءُ مَنْ لَمْ يُحْدِثْ، وَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ هَكَذَا

✧ Ali b. Abi Talib stood up as a speaker in al-Rahba, praised Allah and extolled Him as He deserves, then said what Allah willed him to say, then called for a cup of Zamzam water and rinsed his mouth from it, wiped [his face], and drank the leftover of his ablution while standing. Then he said, “It has reached me that a man among you dislikes drinking while standing. This is the ablution of one who has not broken his wudu. And I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do like this.”
